Re: “Daniel Island Grille

On the bright side, if you are looking for a cool sports bar without having to go to far, then this is a great place to go. They have many tvs set up inside and out. As far as anything else goes, the food is terrible...they must rely on liquor and beer sales to stay open. Some of the staff and very friendly and like to have fun, but others are just kind of stupid and are only there to try and make a buck. If you are able to be there on a day when the owners are not drunk, then they are pretty nice guys and will do anything for their patrons, unfortunately, they are drunk about 90% of the time they are there. I will still go to have some drinks and watch some games, but I do not go there because I like DIG.

Re: “Chucktown Tavern

Hardcore downtown "suits" happy hour crowd. Pool, darts, foul language, stiff drinks, mostly hospitality and hotel industry regulars. Except they're all friggin' Boston fans. What's up with that?!

Re: “Blind Tiger

nice folks, but food safety is scary! Sat at the bar for 2 hours and the cook/chef did not wash his hands at any time. Raw hamburger meat was handled by the same 'unwashed' hands of lettuce, tomatoes, bread, fish, cooked potatoes( stored inches off the floor). I am from out of town....so do not know if this is the standard for Charleston.

Didn't know what to expect.. Had a great time with great food and lively music from a duo whose name I didn't catch.

Re: “Foster's Pub

I'm pretty sure i could eat that 3lb burger... This place is great! Suprisingly every time i have come it's pretty slow (capacity wise, not service), saturday afternoons and such. But the food is always great and the beer selection even better.

Re: “Foster's Pub

I don't know what "spitfire" is talking about. I've been in a few times on trivia night, was there tonight actually, and I've never had bad service or food. Perhaps your attitude is what brings on the bad service?

I love Foster's! The turkey burger there rocks!

Re: “Foster's Pub

Outstanding I will have to say, have traveled down to the Pub many times from the Moncks Corner area and will have to say , Wow , It was really worth the trip. Great staff, great food and even BETTER selection of beer. The food was always on time , cooked and delivered with a smile. If I ever needed anything , the staff was always there to get what I needed. I have watched on numerous times , the owner bend over backwards to help a customer out , to make sure that the staff are trained on what beers are available and even offer several samples so the customers know what they would be getting prioir to buying it.

Re: “Foster's Pub

More power to you, Craig.

I've got to say "word up" to word too -- That review just doesn't add up.

I know Craig, admittedly not well, but well enough to know that he's a honest guy and certainly wouldn't fabricate a detailed story like that for the sake of the user review section of this website. Sounds like spitfire is some hybrid of a constant complainer & a leech, and any establishment is better off without either of them.

Re: “Foster's Pub

Hard to take a negative review seriously when you post that you continually get poor service and bad food in a packed restaurant and continue to return. To quote you, "on toooooo may occasions".

Seriously, of all the restaurants in Mt P you continue to return to a place as horrible as you describe? Sorry, that just doesn't hold water.

Re: “Foster's Pub

to "Spitfire".

i first want to thank you for the time you took to post a horrible review of my business. On the same token I would like to add that I apologize for your "bad experiences." And, as you can see by reading the many legitimate reviews on this site and the two page spread that was in The Post and Courier, many people have very kind and very positive reviews of Foster's Pub. I have a very good idea of exactly who you are due to the details written in your post, and my only question to you is, What, if ANYTHING, can I do to make you happy? You and your party come in every Wednesday for trivia. On your very first visit, You made a complaint to me that the food took a long time to get to your table and a salad was delivered not as you ordered. I immediately did my best to remedy the situation by taking the salad and your meal off of your bill and i also gave you a $30 gift certificate to give us another chance. You came back the next week and again another "problem", of which i deducted from your bill. On the very next week, you told me that your salad was horrible and that your burger was undercooked. I found it amusing that you felt this way after completely finishing the salad and all but maybe one bite of your burger, yet i still deducted them from your bill. You even went so far as to tell me that i shouldn't be drinking a beer with other customers while i am in MY OWN BAR, to which I (against my will) agreed with you. On one occasion, you even went so far as to tell a server, and I quote, "I hope you can find another job, because this place won't be open long!" Well, frankly, You have crossed the line. I find it odd that i have comped more for you than any other GROUP since we have opened. I have even told my servers to make sure YOU, in particular, are happy "at all costs!" We have discovered that this is not possible. My entire waitstaff dreads you even coming through the door. You have, in fact, become the "complainer" that you claimed not to be! No one else at your table ever complains, not even your husband. I have even asked around to other local restaurant employees about you, they recognize you right off the rip. I have to ask you, which restaurants has your family owned? Do they not own them anymore? If they are still open, I would love the opportunity to see what kind of service i am up against, and return the "support." I am very apologetic on the fact that mistakes have been made, and I did my very best to fix them, but, unfortunately, that is all that i can do. And, as a side note,
1) Our crab cakes are made fresh daily and NEVER frozen.
2) Dry wings DO NOT have sauce, they have seasoning.
3) THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO "DISH RAG" SMELL in my restaurant! I challenge you to prove me wrong!
Each and every Wednesday we have trivia, and we have a full house. There were other places in Mt. Pleasant that also did Trivia on Wednesday, and still are (giusseppi"s on ben sawyer). Evidently, we are doing something right, as shown by the support of many regular teams, and even your team. I have and always will meet with tables throughout the night, and rarely do i hear of issues that i cannot immediately fix, much less those that you claim. I am also very sorry to inform you that, contrary to your belief, Foster's Pub is doing very well. We are not going anywhere, in fact we are actually upgrading this location and expanding to second location to open by next summer. If any one would ever like to voice a concern or just talk about food, flavors, upcoming events, local charitable involvement, or the many incredible wonders of Craft Beer, you can find me talking to one of many happy, repeat patrons or (as seen in a prior review) enjoying a pint of The Finest Artisanal Handcrafted Brews available. Feel free to join me at the corner of the bar for a Pint!

Cheers!
Craig Foster

Re: “Foster's Pub

I'm not sure when these folks are going in who are raving about the great service, the owner helping out and the wonderful food. I've been in several times but ONLY because the trivia choices are limited for Wednesday nights. We have terrible service most nights and even complaints don't seem to make any difference. I am not a "complainer" but I do think that I deserve good food, served in a timely manner with good service when I am paying for it and supporting an establishment. One night, one of our group ordered french onion soup and ONE HOUR later, the server came to tell us they were out of it; once a salad took an hour to arrive; routinely we wait 45 minutes to an hour for wings, sandwiches, etc. We've ordered crab cakes that were still frozen in the middle, wraps that barely had any filling, wings that didn't have sauce...I could go on and on but the point is that it's not just been one or two bad experiences, it's consistent. The place is packed on trivia nights so you would think that any smart owner would put an extra hand in the kitchen and on the floor but it never happens. The poor servers run themselves ragged and I know the majority of folks don't tip well because the service is so bad..but it's not their fault..c'mon, Man, servers only make $2.13 an hour...surely you can put one more person out there to help. OR better yet...I've seen, on toooooo may occasions, Craig sitting at the bar having beer while his customers get angry waiting on food and his staff runs around like crazy. My family has owned restaurants in the past and I can tell you that is NOT the way to succeed. Oh...and there is always a smell of dirty dish rags in there...what's up with that? I have heard so many complaints of the same kind and I know these folks have voiced their complaints so it makes me wonder if Craig cares at all since it's the same problem over and over. I have now taken to eating elsewhere before trivia and I can promise that when a new Wednesday venue opens, I will NEVER step foot back in there...and I warn my friends away even now.

Re: “Chucktown Tavern

Surprisingly fun place to host a private party and slurp down a few "Trash Cans." Place is low key, but in a weird location (across from old Vickery's that's now closed, boo hoo : ( Wish the pool table was full size, but still OK. Food is high quality fare, and close to CofC, but it's NOT a place to take a date. Definitely a local happy hour and Boston sports bar. Nice patio, except for the endless horse and buggies coming down Market Street. Reminds me of Abe's in Mt. Pleasant for some reason...

Re: “Chucktown Tavern

Still recovering from their "trash can" -- six shots of booze and a RedBull. Look out! Did y'all read the blotter in this week's City Paper? Now it makes sense...
Chill place, mostly locals after work. Food is good.

Re: “Blind Tiger

I know, 5 star rating... before you judge I'll admit that the restaurant as a whole: not a 5 star restaurant in my mind. The 5 star rating is specifically for their burgers (which are half off every Tuesday after 5). Being a college student and a small time self-proclaimed foodie I have tasted most every burger in town and I have to say the burger at this place is at the top of the pecking order. Really is worth your time to head down to Broad and pick one up especially when they're half off. But please, no requests for medium well, eat the burger as it's supposed to be engulfed: fast and medium rare.
