Absolutely awful. if you don’t work there, know the bartender, or a Cleveland browns fan on Sundays... STAY AWAY. no interest in the casual diner. As a Belle Hall resident I hope this place goes out of business.
Wow, glad you read my 2 year old review and the rest of them. I probably go to Foster's twice a month, so I don't think Craig would want me to stay home. Many of my early comments were in fact addressed. For a while, I thought the food was stepping up (had a cheesesteak sandwich special that was really good), lately it may have slipped a little.
I can usually find a decent beer here and the food is good. This place continues to be in my rotation. Is it a 5 star as you report, definitely not, but it is a good neighborhood pub with above average beer. I think Craig is a good guy, and the staff at the bar has always been friendly.
I give detailed honest reviews and don't throw 5 stars out at every place. City Paper does not define their stars, but most reataurant guides see 1 star as recommended. 5 is typically reserved for a place that you would drive 200 miles out of your way for (3 to me denotes good). Owners can use my free assessment to improve or not. If they improve, I will go back as is the case with Foster's. Some places are not geared towards my tastes, or do not care to be.
I'll keep it short and sweet... Great food. Super friendly and attentive owner. Excellent staff. When I am in town, I try to come here often.
@Aleyeast-I clicked on your name and read all your reviews. You come across as a small, negative, petty, angry little man who fancies himself a well travelled, and scholarly critic. You are truly ridiculous. You probably sit at home with your little beer book plagiarizing content as your own thoughts. Do the area a favor and please stay home. I will gladly discuss this with you in person though if you wish...
Thanks for the suggestion! While I didn't have the "Honey Badger Wrap," I can tell this staff is the ideal group to create and serve it in the city. Thanks again for the insight!
Very good. No complaints. Will definitely be back for wings and bourbon. Bartender lacked a bit of knowledge about drinks/beers, but again, no complaints. The guy who appeared to be the manager was very knowledgeable and filled in the blanks. Really liked the atmosphere and the bar itself. The temp regulated drafts/taps is a nice option. Wings are a bit pricey, but worth it. Half price day makes them well worth it. Looking forward to trying more menu items.
Try the Honey Badger wrap! Homemade!
Great Place… With one exception
I really enjoyed the Griffon. Food was good and the beer selection was great. However, one bartender almost ruined it. It’s a small guy with black hair kind of spiked. Lee or Lloyd (I think). Wore a flower on his shirt and was very rude! Anyway, the place is great, but avoid this guy if possible…
Can i join you at Moes??? dang bro" that's all you had to say!!!
I agree tenfold that Phinz fan is 100% on the money... I know that in the service industry working at a bar pub you probably deal with a lot of attitudes, but you could not have said it better!
If I could give Gene's negative stars I would.
A shame, because Gene's has a great beer selection and board games at every table is a neat concept. However, the entire staff is nothing but arrogant pretentious hipster losers that act like they are doing you a favor by giving you crappy service. I've had one or more of them be extremely rude to me and my friends almost every visit. I've had friendlier service at Dick's Last Resort. Not kidding.
The food is also very uninteresting. Honestly, there is really no reason to go there except for the large beer selection. If Gene's fired all of their employees and started over then I might consider giving it another shot. Until then I will be at Roost!
The Blind Tiger staff has made the impression that whatever tip I may give them will never be enough for them to put down the smartphone and do their job. At a $1 a drink, I'll tip someone else somewhere else.
Have a drink, enjoy the courtyard, skip the food.
Highs: genuinely friendly staff, yummy burgers/sandwiches, jam-if-you want live music setup.
Lows: EXPENSIVE ($28 for sandwiches and tea for two), and it is a strange mix of "new" and "dive"
I liked this place; it is completely un-pretentious, the food was solid, and they have a nice outdoor setting. Draught selection looked good. They even have karaoke. But seriously too expensive in general.
I've eaten there and it's honestly good and the best evening is when any night "Baby Fat" is rocking the joint. They are excellent musicians.
As a matter of fact schwanz I am pleased to say that all your concerns were addressed. In fact the entire kitchen staff was gutted. There is now a fabulous staff, along with an amazing revamped menu! I hope that you can make it back in time soon... it will definitely be worth your time! I promise!!!!!!! Also, we have a delicious brunch menu... it is a must have! Brunch is served Sunday for 11am-3pm and then the regular menu from 3pm-until.
In addition we have great weekly specials....
Monday: 1/2 Price Burger Day (All day)
Wednesday: 1/2 Price Wings (All day)
Thursday: 1/2 Price Nachos (All day)
I agree with Gatermama....service is VERY poor....AWFUL service!
After waiting 1 1/2 hours and no food, we finally decided it was time to let some one know, since our waitress was outside taking a smoke break!! We happily took our party and what WOULD have easily been $75.00 to $100.00 spent there for our bill next door and was happily served and out the door in 30 minutes!! Good luck in Knightsville Blind Referee!
I must agree, great staff and food!!!
I can’t complain about their service, their staff is pleasant and helpful. It has a friendly atmosphere so I feel comfortable going there by myself =))
The food is so great here! However, that's where it stops! Service is very poor. The management, if there is any, is very poor and it shows.
