I went in today to buy some macaroons to give to a friend and ended up also getting a bag of the chocolate & sea salt cookies plus a chocolate almond croissant--AMAZING! I'm sure I've never had a proper croissant until now. Indescribably good. And the sales lady (who is French) was perfectly lovely.
simply addictive cookies and croissants - a must try if you've never been. they open up around 10 or 10:30am so it's not really a good fit for some people's schedules, but if you find yourself anywhere close to them while they are open you have to go get yourself a choc&almond croissant and a bag of choc&sea salt cookies.
the couple that owns it is quite lovely if you just stop and talk to them.
We were there today. Everything looked awesome....as I was trying to decide between two items my son tried to take a picture of something, to which the snotty sales lady instructed him "you're supposed to ask first". We left with nothing.
sweet, quaint little boutique. along with the decadent and perfectly pretty macaroons, make sure to pick up an almond croissant. tres bien!
I can't rank the food, but on a trip to Charleston, SC with my family (first ever, and a straight 26 hour drive to get there) I was taking pictures of all the pretty scenery (so different then I was used to!) and I went to try to get a quick shot of how beautiful and eye catching the inside of this shop was... when I was rude gestured at. I was so completely flabbergasted that I just stood there stunned for several seconds while the saleswoman is swinging her arms at me and giving me a hideous look. That alone made it sure I never walked into that bakery to try their goods. I was really hurt by the action, but thankfully the rest of Charleston made up for the rude behavior I was given by this one person. If you don't appreciate pictures of the inside, then please put a large sign in the window or on the door to let people know before you snap at them- especially first time visitors. I have a gorgeous shot of their window with the words and pastries behind it but have no desire to show anyone the shot, or to provide it to the bakery as I do with all pictures I take.
AMAZING! If you come to Charleston, you have to try this place.
Best. Donuts. Ever.
Great addition to upper king. I want to try every flavor!
I am on my way there now! This* is probably as close as I will get to Paris in the immediate future. MB is simply the best of the best! The croissants are to die for no matter which kind you get. Also, the baguettes, warmed or not, are wonderful with dinner, plain or with PB&J!

The most amazing authentic French Macaroons! And of course only made by authentic French pastry chefs, which only makes it better! My visit was great and friendly! I hope to make this a regular visit in my week. There are definitely some things us American can not do better!
If only the attitude of the saleswoman were as cheerful as the pretty macaroons, I would consider returning to this little bakery. Alas, it was not, and I will not.
I believe new owners.
I was not impressed. Everything LOOKED beautiful, but the cakes, cookies, and brownies I tried (my friend and I ordered a lot) were heavy and not very flavorful. I give them points for style, but I bake stuff better than that at home all the time.
I dare someone to try to take a picture inside of the baked goods and see what happens.
I have been here many times but today will be the last. Apparently the chef was late and having a bad day so the opening time was not as posted on the door. A verbal attack with profanity by a hysterical chef rather than an explanation is not the way to ensure a repeat customer.
I live in the neighborhood and eat here often. It is truly ALL stars. It's one of Sal's restaurants. Everything fresh and yummy. It's super casual, walk up to the counter and order, then sit and they bring the food. Pour your drink or get it from the cooler.
The desserts are famous and worth every calorie!!
I think the reason that there aren't more reviews is that the locals want to keep it secret! It's also small and cozy.
Oh, Lordy! What a find in Charleston!! From a block away you can follow your nose, a MUST if you are to visit Charleston, one of these off the track places where tourists would not go..
Everything was great!! big fat buttery flaked croissants,
with almond center, without, with the chocolat, raspberry centers oh, my, did I feast!!
the macarons too perfect for words, the chocolat ones, the big sized ones, oh, heaven!
I want to have them all shipped to me in Seattle, right now!!!!
Not only perfectly beautiful to look at, but every one with a distinct different flavor. pistachio being one heavenly one too!
I felt I have found my ultimate bakery.. i have tasted and feel i have lived.! thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Their croissants are as buttery, flaky and delicious as the best in Paris.
I'm not sure where you got that information but all their ingredients come from Sysco and Costco, which are not local at all. Nothing is orgnaic except for the strawberry jam and the peanut butter.
Love, love, love. I agree, they're a little pricey, but they use local and organic ingredients whenever possible. It's also a locally-owned business. All the more reason to try their amazing flavors.
