Missed Mahmood Fazal this year, but really enjoyed the other exhibitors' work. We were especially impressed with Elianna Radin's work! She's the 7 year-old daughter of the founders, Alex and Sara Radin. Her work is so mature! Reading the program is very enriching- helped shed a lot of light on the Hiott's Hope exhibit.

I was at this show, because i heard that the Oasis was putting on shows again. I caught all the bands and the two that stood out the most were go jenny go, and Lizard on the window. Go jenny go was a fun entertaining band, and Lizard on the window was just good old fashion fun punk rock. As i watched Lizard on the window, they said that it was their first time headlining a show, they went on at 11:30 and played to about 30 to 50 people and after their set, the crowd screamed for an encore. The other bands were decent The lungs, claymore, primo noctus. I dont know if this means anything but if you have a chance to see Lizard on the window in concert DO IT!!!!!! These guys have what it takes to be the next big thing out of charleston.

This show opening was my kick-off to Spoleto this year and was a lot of fun. I went with one friend and ran into about ten others at the opening...even late into the reception the place was hopping with people. The addition of live music at the opening reception was a nice perk as we looked at the work. This exhibit is in a great location (in the Citadel Baptist Church just across the street from the artists in the park at Marion Square). It's a good show to take in if you have folks interested in a variety of mediums. It was also free of charge, which is always a bonus!

Amazing show. Thank you Hirona for this delicious feast for the eyes. My seven year old was amazed, and I was in awe of the art created by our own here in Charleston.

What an excellent event! We had eight stories last night that spanned comedy to poignancy, and covered topics such as little league, high school and college trip misadventures, and how to become best friends with Richard Simmons (hint: sing along with him). Thanks to John McMahon for organizing the event and to all the story tellers who were brave enough to get up in front of a bunch of strangers and share true stories with us.

I have to disagree with the other comment. I thought the bar crawl was great, and so did my friends who attended. There were at least a dozen bars on the crawl. It would have been annoying and time consuming to try to get every person on the bar crawl (I understand there were more than 100 people) to walk together to each one. I liked that we got to go to whatever bar we wanted in whatever order we wanted to.

And yes, you could set up your own happy hour pub crawl, but the point is that these were RARE beers, not ones you could regularly get. I thought the samples were pretty large, especially with the majority of the beers being high-gravity. Halfway through the crawl I was definitely feeling the effects. I can't image how wasted we would have been if the samples had been larger.

I loved it and would do it again. Thanks City Paper!

Even more than Corvairs, bicycles are unsafe at any speed. Bike lanes take away emergency parking for cars and offer no protection for cyclist. Given the mixture of college, tourist, graying, and teenage auto drivers in the Charleston area, you would almost have to be an idiot to ride along side of traffic on a bike lane. Perhaps this is the reason you see miles and miles of empty bike lanes when driving around the area. Deaths per in traffic bicycle miles must far exceed that of automobiles, and with all the media and bureaucratic delusions about the risk/benefits involved, the death toll is going to get even higher. You will hear NONE of the proponents of bike lanes talking about the safety issue and that may be because they really don't care. Or as mentioned, they are delusional.

Thanks by the way to the City Paper for providing a free forum on such issues since the Post and Courier has gone commerical with its online content. Would be nice of CCP covered more local news or perhaps an open comment venue where readers could post comments on any news topics read elsewhere.

This will be my second time visiting Middleton Gardens. I arranged transportation with Omega Transportation ( since you save 10% on a round trip and don't have to deal with the traffic!!!!!) I am truly looking forward to the rice planting demonstrations. And I know that the gardens are really beautiful this time of the year. I can't wait!!!!!!
