Robots, barbecue, and giant post-it notes ruled the day during this ad-hoc tech conference. Around 200 techie types got together at the Lowcountry Innovation Center and pulled off a decentralized DIY day of short seminars and demos. Anybody could be a presenter and attend any of the presentations. For people used to the structured hegemony of more traditional conferences, it was a refreshing alternative. Charleston is getting dragged into the digital age kicking and tweeting. The enthusiasm and breadth of knowledge shown at Barcamp was an impressive show of the potential of our local digerati community.
