The original Three Amigos wore Mexican outfits and went by the names of Chase, Martin, and Short. Charleston’s group of artists with the same name choose graffiti, photography, and screenprints as their art forms rather than comedy. BadJon, Proton, and Meta — a.k.a. the 3 Amigos — team up with “El Guapo,” better known as SHT!, to showcase their diverse mediums in their second collaborative art installation. BadJon (Jonathon Stout) shot an abandoned navy base swimming pool, an abandoned insane asylum, and an oil spill for his latest photography series. Meta, a graphic artist, got his start working in tattoo shops. Proton ( formerly known as Public Enemy No. 1) is a street artist who creates watercolors and screenprints of his favorite super heroes, movies, and television shows. SHT! is mostly known for his screenprints, but he’ll be showing mixed media art as well. “We’ve known each other forever, and we feed off each other to get more creative and collaborative,” says Stout. As if that wasn’t enough art, there’ll be a graffiti demonstration by RT, too. Sweeteeth and the Dulce Dessert Truck will serve up some sweet treats for the attendees while DJ Lanatron and Worship the Sky spin party rockers, and Holy City Games will set up cornhole stations and other all-ages games. Parking is free, admission is free, and you can brag later that you attended an art installation at the Monster.
