Stacy Pearsall buys Center for Photography

Posted by John Stoehr on Tue, Mar 31, 2009 at 2:30 PM

Stacy Pearsall, the only woman to win military photographer of the year twice, has recently acquired the Charleston Center for Photography on 654-D King St.

The 12-year combat photography veteran is now working hard for the CCforP to offer a variety of classes and workshops for all photographers ranging from beginners to professionals.

Under the new ownership, CCforP is also providing the community with a new endeavor this summer, a Teen Photography Summer Camp offered from July 13-17.

But don't worry, all of the these new additions haven't stirred things up too much. The popular Free Second Monday Night Lecture Series are still in full effect with a class right around the corner on Mon. April 13.

Don't forget, registration for class sessions begin on April 27.

A Spiritual Fundraiser

Posted by John Stoehr on Fri, Mar 27, 2009 at 9:55 AM

Our dear Holy City dwellers: It's time to dust off the spring hats and step on out in style. On Sat. April 25 at 11:30 a.m., the YWCA of Greater Charleston and the New CSO Spiritual Ensemble will be presenting A Spiritual Brunch, a fundraising event to benefit both organizations' operating funds.

The fundraiser is a sure way to honor both wonderful traditions of a Southern brunch and of Lowcountry spiritual music; all while supporting two great nonprofit organizations that are in need in the Charleston area.

Ladies and gents alike are asked to don their spring hats in honor of these traditions. The brunch is being held at the Marriot Charleston Riverview and includes a delicious, speciality menu prepared by the staff.

Tickets are $40 dollars and are available at the Gaillard Box Office on 77 Calhoun St. (cash only) and at the YWCA on 106 Coming St. (cash, checks, or credit cards accepted). Visit www.ywca-charleston.org or www.csogospel.com for more information. —Reina Gascon-Lopez
