New Site Guides Consumers Through New Healthcare System — It's A Start

The first phase of America's new healthcare overhaul kicked in this past week. It will take years before the whole program is in place, but we are finally on the road to a healthcare system that is actually designed to benefit people, not corporations. Here is the first evidence that things are changing for the better.
For many families and small businesses, finding the right insurance plan has meant spending hours on the phone deciphering confusing insurance company lingo and reading way too much fine print. Today finding health insurance just got easier with the launch of HealthCare.gov.
The new website, developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, helps us understand all the health insurance options available in our area. After answering just a few basic questions, the website's insurance finder will identify public and private coverage options that might be right for you.
From HealthCare.gov you can receive updates on the implementation of the new law and, as the website grows, you will be able to research health plan quality ratings, learn about disease prevention, and compare health plan prices. This is the new first stop for America's healthcare needs.
This website is the beginning of the transparency and peace of mind promised by the new law to check the insurance companies' bad practices and greedy behavior. HealthCare.gov represents an important step in implementation and allows us all to take health care out of the hands of corporations.

You should be fined for not having insurance because if you have an emergency and go to the emergency room, then you do not have the money for the bill, it gets charged to everyone else. Its like stores that have to charge more because of all the theft. People go to the hospital and then not pay, it gets charged to everyone else.

The site doesn't do a very good job of explaining the premiums, hidden taxes and fees individuals will be paying.
The default answer to "what if I can't afford the cost of the new insurance" is "If you have limited income and resources, you may be eligible for the Medicaid program in your state." The operative word in that answer is "may". This word "may" is used throughout the site. Each occurrence indicates where some bureaucrat will be making a decision about your healthcare.
You can now lie on your insurance application without fear of losing coverage. #1 in the Top Five Things To Know for healthy individuals the gov't tells you "Starting as early as September 2010, insurance companies won’t be able to drop you when you get sick just because you made a mistake on your coverage application."

THE FACT IS about 99% of the Health Care Reform doesn't go into effect until 2014... most of what has gone into effect only covers minors.

The health care package cures the one thing that was worst about the old system, which was the prospect of paying some insurance company for years and then having them drop you when you needed them.
