I could not make this up. It sounds like a really bad movie, but it is all true. Indiana Rep. Mark Souder, a Republican and staunch advocate of abstinence-only sex education for teens, was caught in an affair with staff member Tracy Jackson. In this YouTube video, you will see Jackson interviewing Souder in a piece of promotion for consumption back home in the Indiana Third District. It was part of a series of videos Souder and Jackson did to promote his pro abstinence and family values image. You can see several of the videos at this site. Now Souder joins Sen. David Vitter, Sen. Larry Craig, and Gov. Mark Sanford as a family values Republican caught living a lie. Will Republicans learn anything from this experience? Don't count on it! But at least Souder has resigned, something the other three did not have the integrity to do.

And here's another YouTube on Mark Souder from The Young Turks:

And speaking of misbehavior in high places, Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, the Democrat thought most likely to replace Sen. Chris Dodd, has been caught repeatedly lying about military background. He claimed to have served in Vietnam, when in fact, he was in the Marine Reserves and never left the country. http://topics.nytimes.com/topics/reference/timestopics/people/b/richard_blumenthal/index.html
So whose sin is worse, Souder's hypocrisy or Blumenthal's lying?

Maybe they're just all trying to be as much like Bill Clinton as possible so they have a shot at the presidency :)
You can say you served in Vietnam if you have a Vietnam Service Medal, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vietnam_Servi….
Otherwise, you were in the military during the Vietnam war and you say you served during Vietnam, as I did, and you would have a national defense service medal, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Defe…, for serving during time of war.
Hope I never slip up and say the wrong thing.
An affair by an adult that advocates abstinence-only sex education for teens is not hypocrisy.
One is a cosenting liason outside of the agreement of marraige (however deplorable) between two adults capable of understanding the impact of their actions, the other is a liason between teens that usually can't make an informed decision and probably can't deal with the consequences of that decision nor understand the decisions full ramifications.
Abstinence-only sex education for teens is about waiting to have sex when they are mature enough to make an informed choice and (fiscally and mentally) handle the consequences of that choice, it is not about never having sex ever.
Ok now: If one served during the Vietnam war he/she was part of the war effort.
So can that person safely say he/she served in the Vietnam war, even if never actually in Vietnam?
Oh no, Slipshadow, as I read abstinance propaganda it's no sex until marriage.
There is no provision for single people to have sex ever.
Or for married people to have sex outside of marriage.
Hang on A min, Clinton was never an advocate of family values never ran on the Christian ticket; he was always a cheating lying bastard. this pig (Souder the sinner) ran on all good CHRISTIAN FAMILY VALUES... I think they both should be stoned as per the bible they follow... it is only fair.
Besides, he is only sorry because he got caught!!
you know he reminds me of someone hmmm Jimmy Swaggart, do you remember him
damn freaks!!! hope he burns in hell!!
