American Taliban — The Republican Party Looks More Jihadist by the Day

Posted by Will Moredock on Fri, Feb 5, 2010 at 4:21 AM

Below are the recent Daily Kos/Research 2010 poll results demonstrating what a weird and dangerous cul-de-sac the Republican Party has driven itself into. It is an intellectual backwater of conspiracy nuts, evolution-deniers, "birthers," secessionists and other right wing fantasists. As Kos writes:

42 percent of Republicans aren't really patriotic. They pretend to love America only when they approve of the president. These traitors don't believe in democracy, in our nation's founding ideals, or in our flag. To them, those colors run. They are cowards.

Note, secession sentiment is MUCH stronger in the South than elsewhere — 33 percent want out, compared to just 52 percent who want to stay. In the Northeast, "just" 10 percent want out, in the Midwest, its 18 percent, and in the West, it's 16 percent. Can we cram them all into the Texas Panhandle, create the state of Dumbfuckistan, and build a wall around them to keep them from coming into America illegally?

This is really scary.

No Will. What's truly scary is how much effort and time folks spend on trying to prove just how F'd up the opposition party is, rather than trying to figure out how we can overcome our differences and come to a consensus that will actually move our country forward, rather than tear it apart. In that aspect, you are no different than those you seem to enjoy denigrating.

I'll get my accurate, scientific analysis of republicans from KOS the same day that I do research on Rosh Hashanah using the KKK as my leading source. You actually went on record, quoting someone so eloquent as to include this: "Can we cram them all into the Texas Panhandle, create the state of Dumbfuckistan, and build a wall around them to keep them from coming into America illegally?"

Jesus Christ, Will. This is less thought-provoking than Chris Haire's giant ASCII "bird" to Sanford from a few months back.

Conservatives must move beyond maneuverings and machinations, which ultimately have gotten us nowhere. But Republicans need to lead with the power of their ideas, not slim manufactured pole percentages or forced consensus through the rantings of broadcast political commentators. Strong factual argument and truth in debate are the only way to a long-term governing majority.

I thought you and your party are supposedly about diversity, enlightenment and acceptance! You slander republicans at the same time showing, you are nothing more than a close minded bigot yourself! Calling anybody a wing nut, weird and dangerous , then you quote the Daily Kos! A blog that has nothing but conspiracy nuts and hate speech on it, you truly have nerve to question any one else's intellect.
You can not challenge our ideas, so instead you choose to disparage us. Really using slanted information from a poll, that has no record of accuracy! Didn't they say Martha Coakley, would win Teddy's seat by 5 points...

What's really scary is how absolutely clueless the left has become in trying to understand conservative thought.

Here's an idea for a polling question: Ask people whether they favor or oppose "fundamentally transforming the United States of America".

Obama made that statement five days before the election, and most people dismissed it as campaign rhetoric. After one year's worth of reckless spending, and several feckless policy blunders (KSM trial in NYC, months of dithering on Afghanistan, 30 plus policy "czars", etc..) it has become quite clear that Mr. Obama meant every word of it.

Progressives think conservatives are a bunch of dim witted, hillbilly hicks, who are not capable of understanding that "it's in our own best interest to let smart progressives order our daily lives for us." We just aren't smart enough to understand stuff like a 1.4 trillion dollar deficit, or a 14 trillion dollar debt. Conservative simpletons continue to worry about borrowing money from China (with our children and grandchildren as co-signors) to stimulate big government bureaucracies.

Here's another question: What can the progressive leftist's do to better educate, as Rhambo Emanuel would say, those "effing retards" who don't "get" that the health care bill's policy contents don't matter, just passing the framework for a future government takeover matters. Obviously, free government health care for all, with no denials of treatment or long waiting lines for service, should be appealing to even the most clueless Republicans. So why can't "smart" progressives educate us fools? With absolute majority control of both houses of congress, why couldn't enlightened progressives pass health care? Could it be that the bill "stinks on ice"? Career politicians are craven weasels when it comes to saving their own asses. Maybe that's why it couldn't pass - signing off on that pile of crap is political suicide. Too late, though. The noose is already tight around the left's neck, and the "anointed one" will finish kicking out the stool in the next six months.

Let me give Mr. Moredock and his colleagues a "heads up". Start writing stories about how the progressive movement has doomed the Democrat party to minority status for the next few decades, starting with "Slaughter at the Ballot Box - 2010". You will have a nine month head start on the rest of the increasingly irrelevant "state controlled media" when the uprising of "stupid people" throw your asses out of power.

"Dumbfuckistan"--lol... that's funny. If your opponents possessed thought processes and could (or would) engage in point-counterpoint debate, such invective would be offensive. But, that not being the case, go for it!

I guess you've seen through the political smokescreen that is the Republican party Will. I think I'll just meander on over to the Tea party clutching onto my guns, religion, and cash. By the way, you can keep the change. It hasn't, or won't, amount to much.

Daily Kos didn't conduct the survey; a non-partisan independent pollster, Research 2000, did. And while I question the efficacy of the poll, its results are nonetheless revealing---and frightening.

The author of the Kos article makes a valid analogy: the ultimate goal of both Islam and fundamentalist Christianity is to convert the world. The intertwining of government and religion is a key characteristic of fascist governments. At what point does allowing one's religion to inform one's politics become government-sponsored proselytizing or theocracy?

Nazi Germany was born out of an economic depression combined with a populist movement headed by a single charismatic personality. So I don't think it is over the top to compare that period of history with what is going on today with the current recession, the Tea Party and Sarah Palin. The poll re-enforces what I've feared all along was the true mindset of GOPers.
