It looks like this ridiculous media-driven "war on Christmas"crap has finally run its course, despite what our CongressmanHenry Brown is doing to whip it up again. As if we didn't have enough to worry about, what with the economy gone to hell, two wars and melting ice caps, the Hick from Hanahan introduceda congressional resolution, which you can see for yourself athttp://brown.house.gov/apps/list/press/sc01_brown/120809SanctityofChristmas.shtml
As Christmas approaches, I have introduced a resolution that recognizes the importance of Christmas symbols and traditions and also expresses support for the use of these symbols and traditions by those who celebrate this holiday. Furthermore, the resolution expresses disapproval of all attempts to ban or limit references to Christmas. We must not forget that the true meaning of Christmas is to celebrate of the birth of Christ and I will continue to work to protect the sanctity of this great holiday.
According to Slate.com, the war on Christmas is already overand Henry is flogging a dead horse: www.slate.com/id/2238994?nav=wp
Because the furor was media-driven in the first place, media mentions seem as good a metric as any. After 2005, Google Trends shows a continuous decline in searches for and mentions of the "war on Christmas." Media mentions of a "war on Christmas" have fallen steadily as well, according to Nexis: There were 431 articles mentioning it as of Dec. 17, 2006; 187 by that time in 2007; 155 in 2008; and 97 in 2009. Even Fox News, the network that pushed the story in the winter of 2005, has essentially stopped talking about it: At this time in 2005, Fox had aired 80 episodes explicitly referring to the "war on Christmas"; in 2006, there were 24; in 2007, 11; in 2008, five; and three so far this year. The departure in 2008 of Fox News host John Gibson, who penned The War on Christmas: How the Liberal Plot To Ban the Sacred Christian Holiday Is Worse Than You Thought, may have had something to do with it.
Here's another take on the war on Christmas, courtesy of Timemagazine:
www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1947590,00.html Here's a snippet:
There's a war on Christmas, the conservative commentator recently reminded viewers, driven by those who "loathe the baby Jesus." This season, a holiday-décor company is marketing the CHRIST-mas Tree, a bushy artificial tree with a giant cross where the trunk should be. And the Colorado-based nonprofit Focus on the Family is continuing its Stand for Christmas campaign to highlight the offenses of Christmas-denying retailers. The campaign was launched, according to its website, because "citizens across the nation were growing dissatisfied with the tendency of corporations to omit references to Christmas from holiday promotions."
And for something really refreshing, something that might actually bring a little peace on Earth and good will toward mankind thisChristmas season, see this YouTube video from the Advent Conspiracy:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVqqj1v-ZBU
Whatever you call the season — Christmas, Hanakkuh, Yule, solstice — I hope it is happy and safe and leaves you rested and ready for a newyear.

Seems like some "christians" are working hard to create a seige mentality about their religion similar to the mentality of a lot of muslims who use bogus persecution claims to justify dispicable and inhuman behavior.
According to Time magazine the war on Christmas is still very much alive.
http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/… There is also now a movement on facebook to save christmas. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?filter=ap…
Christmas is a religious holiday. Those of that religion may celebrate. Others do not. If it is your holiday, celebrate in your places of worship and at home. Leave the rest of us alone. I don't see any other religious group in the US trying to push their holidays down everyone elses throat. Be good christians and leave the rest of us alone!!
I remember growing up and going to the high school Christmas concert. We had a large Jewish population so the school had both a pastor and a rabbi to say blessings.Chanukah and Christmas were both recognized and celebrated together...no problems.
This country(the ones crying) do not fear a baby in a manger....it fears morals, values, and expectations between right and wrong. If we look at the country now it is time to come back on the path...the libs way has sorely failed.People have to believe in something.
Everyone has the right to their own faith or belief...and Christmas shouldn't offend anyone. What do the ones crying want to celebrate?America is always looking for a party or celebration.
Celebrate and experience differences Christmas,Chanukah, and Kawanza,on and on.Who fell out in the store and cried the last time they saw a statue of Buddah on the shelf?Put the tree, candles,Buddah and all of it in the yard.....learn and experience and stop crying.Take from it and believe what you chose in your personal relationship with whatever or whomever.Enjoy some Chinese food!
What offends me is people who would otherwise be financially solvent that feel compelled to spend themselves into debt because of this Christian Shopping Madness Holiday.
Good gracious....what is always amazing to me is the audacity of anyone to believe I MUST think as they do, or somehow I'm not religious enough, patriotic enough, smart enough.... Folks, give it a rest. If the most important thing Christians have to worry about right now is whether I love 'baby Jesus'...then peace on earth to them.
I wonder how many would like to work Christmas, not give their children gifts on Christmas, not have their drunken parties, and so on. No one is making you celebrate Christmas, if you don't want to, so be it. It doesn't bother me, just don't trample my rights to celebrate as I choose or call it something it's not. I'm a Christian, I celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. I buy Christmas presents, not holiday gifts, which traditionally represent the gifts the three wisemen brought to the Christ child. I send Christmas cards-with pictures of the nativity scene on them.
Christmas has nothing to do with Christ in the first place. It's a pagan holiday that the Catholic Church (and Catholics aren't really "Christians" by the way) adopted to attract pagans into the Catholic Church which is a terrible organization that is actually working against God. Read the King James Bible and do a little research - the Catholic Church and Christmas have nothing to do with Christ.
End it all. Let the pure 'don't step on me with your belief crowd win'. It is a fight they want and they will not stop with Christmas. So just stop. Be as pathetic as they are. Join them. Go after every thing and stop as much as you can. And except them, their point of view, their lifestyle. Tell them they are right about everything. Agree that America sucks, Jesus sucks, white males suck, Southerners suck, Fox News sucks, Christmas sucks, everyone right of Howard Dean sucks, Israel sucks, your intolerant straight parents suck. Admit YOU suck. Then fall down in a fit of unbelievable guilt and cry out I ACCEPT YOU, YOU ARE SO RIGHT, EH I MEAN CORRECT......WE ALL SUCK....Merry Christmas.....
POSTERS NOTE: That was, eh..accept them, in case you care...(please FORGIVE ME FOR I AM WHITE, A MALE, A BUFFOON, and I SUCK) , good job hating George Bush...I hate George Bush....ah, yea...sure do...and beets also.....
Well stated sclause...
moving on...
Anyone who believes Christians and muslims are are of similar ilk has no need for alcohol...they're already drunk. The problem is that most Christians are too passive...Im a less apologetic Christian who is not too good at turning the other cheek...Frankly, Im fed up with the political correctness that is plaguing this country into an oblivion; get thicker skin. Liberalism has changed and is out of control. Its the death of common sense. A prime example is this healthcare bill thats being shoved down our throats in spite of 42% of the democratic voters against it and all of the republicans...open your eyes, they've forced us to accept a healthcare plan that not one of them are willing to accept themselves. This is a country where majority rules...our forefathers established this country fundamentally under Christian principles. If you dont like it here, cry me a river and go somewhere and start your own country...thats what we did. If I walk into a store and it and a sign says Happy Chunukah or Happy Kawanza , I dont turn around and leave, or protest on the sidewalk or call a lawyer...I go in and buy what I need and carry on...I'm sick of the crybabys...They can go to hell... and whoever thinks the war on Christmas is a dead horse, take a look the first 'holiday tree' at the White House in the country's history...The liberal poison in this country has done one good thing, though...they've awakened the silent majority...and I thank them for that; Rest assured we're coming to take this country back...so brace yourselves...and prepare to crawl back under the proverbial rock from whence you came...and take your weak, one term global embarrassment of a president with you... oh one more thing...we dont say 'happy holidays'...We're proud to say "Merry Christmas"....signed: a former democrat...
charlestowne2 says that he doesn't see "... any other religious group in the US trying to push their holidays down everyone elses throat." But this is patently untrue. While not a religious person myself, I can't help but be aware for instance that the ACLU, ADL, and other largely un-American organizations (based on their activities) joined forces to get rid of Christmas symbols in NYC public schools while at the same time fighting to make sure that menorahs, chanukah bushes, the star of David and amazingly Muslim symbols be posted and promoted. Look it up if you think this isn't true. One has to be a gutless hypocrite to not see that most of the people trying to push Christmas in the background are Jewish people who at the same time trumpet Hanukah, promote it - and Hanukah was considered a very minor Jewish holiday until recently. This hypocritical behavior is ignored or much of the time it seems that the hypocrites cannot see their own behavior much less admit to it. If you point this out, all you hear are the same old cries of "Nazi", "hater", etc. from people who are in fact exhibiting a lot of hate and getting a free pass.
