Charleston County Republicans censure Sen. Graham

Posted by Will Moredock on Wed, Nov 11, 2009 at 5:28 PM

The Republicans have had a death wish for years, driving itself further and further to the right to satisfy the extreme right wing fringe of their party. Here's the most recent example of GOP self-destruction: The Charleston County GOP has just censured GOP Sen. Lindsay Graham for cooperating with Democrats on climate change legislation. Red all about it www.thesunnews.com/611/story/1155444.html?storylink=mirelated

Republicans in Charleston County censured their own U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, saying he puts bipartisanship before the party on issues like climate change.

"U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham in the name of bipartisanship continues to weaken the Republican brand and tarnish the ideals of freedom, rule of law, and fiscal conservatism," according to a resolution passed Monday.

Republican leaders in a South Carolina county have censured their own U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham for working with Democrats on a climate bill and other legislation.

I think that is about time. Perhaps we can find a Conservative to put him back in the private sector.

The stupidity and selfish behavior of the GOP never fails to amaze me. Bipartisan behavior should be rewarded, not condemed. Our country is being torn apart by all the hatred that the GOP continually spews forth in the name of God and country. Shame on them.

It would be far better if Graham did as the party commands: ignore the problem and let it go away. That's how pollution control works, right?

Oh, and I see that perhaps the online editor may have been out for a snack when this one got submitted.

Special K,

What a crock. Bipartisanship to you is only when the GOP goes along with the donkeys? Give me two examples when the Democrats did anything bipartisan!!

Didn't your savior say during his campaign that there would be transparency and bipartisanship? However not one option put forth by a Republican was allowed in Pelosi's bill. And it was all done behind (solid wooden) closed doors that prohibited Republicans participation.

Speaking of hatred. It didn't matter what President Bush did, he was attacked by Democrats continually on EVERYTHING. It was so bad, it became known as BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome).

So where is your Bipartisanship?

I've been a Republican since I registered to vote nearly 30 years ago.

I agree with the good senator. Bipartisanship sometimes means that you can have a common approach to address two different issues. In this case, I know dependence on cheap oil puts us at the mercy of a lot of not-nice people, who use our money to fund folks who want to kill us, and means our men and women die to preserve our access to that energy source. We're vulnerable to disruption in supply, at which point we'll *wish* we did the work to find an alternative.

Cap and trade, by the way, is a market solution implemented under Reagan and Bush 1.
