Comments on Rep. Joe Wilson's Behavior in The New York Times

Posted by Will Moredock on Sat, Sep 12, 2009 at 11:55 AM

I think these speak for themselves:

This is not your father's Republican party. These are thugs, plain and simple.

We have sunk to yet another new low. I see that his Democratic opponent, Rob Miller, has received over $50,000 in campaign donations since last evening's outburst.

Must we again send W. T. Sherman to discipline South Carolina?

I am just cynical enough to believe that Rep Wilson knew just what he was doing and by putting him on the front page of the NY Times, he got just what he wanted.

Shame, shame, shame again, on South Carolina.

It is also hypocritical that some people were so critical of how Obama was going to set a bad example to their children when he spoke to all school children of America a few days back yet remain so quiet about Joe Wilson actions last night.

Our Congress is no place for racism, undignified conduct and the open mockery of a sitting President.

Wilson was probably self-projecting:)

I serve so that Representative Wilson can shout "You Lie" to the President of the United States. I just wish he hadn't.

And where was Joe Wilson's heat and pointed finger when President George W. Bush declared, "America does not torture."? THEN was the time to cry, "You lie!"

The difficult thing to do is to apologize to the person one has insulted, in person.

Since when is "rare" a proper substitute for "unprecedented"? (Note that Democrats audibly booed Bush in the State of the Union address of 2005. gjs)

We must all mourn the passing of tar & feathering as a means of political protest.

Union members can "bite off' the fingers of anti-government health-care protestors, and you call Joe Wilson a "thug"? Guess it depends on what your definition of "thug" is.

In 2003, Wilson voted to provide federal funds for illegal immigrants’ healthcare. The vote came on the Medicare Prescription Drug, Improvement and Modernization Act of 2003, which contained Sec. 1011 authorizing $250,000 annually between 2003 and 2008 for government reimbursements to hospitals who provide treatment for uninsured illegal immigrants. The program has been extended through 2009 and there is currently a bipartisan bill in Congress to make it permanent.

So he voted "Yes" with President Bush using Tax Payers money to funded illegal immigrants healthcare back on 2003 and now he called President Obama a liar when he was trying to point out that there would be no coverage for illegal immigrants
Sound like Mr. Wilson is a two faces, flip flop to me

Joe Wilson is a hero. He tells it as it is! The Republican leadership are a bunch of cowards, always trying to take the moral high ground, so as to not be perceived or accussed of being "just like the Democrats". I'm sick of these guys (Republican's) who still believe in wearing the white hat and always thinking they will prevail in the end. That's the stuff of Hollywood bull-crap! I'm a registered Republican. That qualifies any criticisms I have toward the GOP! As far as Rep. Wilson being a "coward". Prove it! Besides, any disagreement against Obama is automatically perceived as racist. Of course. Because he's black. Get a life.

I was once an Obama supporter. NOT ANYMORE! I have changed my political party to Republican, and I can't wait for the 2010 and 2012 elections! Oh I can't wait!!!

Although he should not have spoken out in the forum that he did, his words ring true. Obama had a formal letter from the republicans dating back to May asking for a sit down to discuss/review the healthcare options and to date, has not come forward with the meeting. Its not really going to make a difference because the dems want free, tax payer funded healthcare and the republicans do not. Obama stated they could stop the waste/fraud yet have done nothing to even begin that task. Washington can't keep coming to the well with big plans and never have any action. If you can stop fraud, do it and then come back and show us you can do it.

The Republican party is steadily heading to "thugery" politics that is full of venom and disrespect for minority, immigrants, and the silent majority. The similarity of their behavior to Hitlerite machination of the 1930's is shocking. This is not good for America, or even the rest of the world, since it only leads to much insability and violence, though eventually the culprits are always cowed and sent to the junk yards of history..... Humanity has always couragously trumped such elements, unfortunately after much sucrifice... Stop it America before it is too late!

The igonorance from some of you posters would be laughable if this were not a contemptible and frightning attack on the citizens of the United States. How dare you defend someone who assaults your President. This is not the United States of the Republican Party. You all have the mentality of Hitler, if you are not are kind, you are not human. I'm surprised you don't have the furnaces all fired up and ready to go.

Joe Wilson is a racist pig and all the other losers of South Carolina. We have a duty in this country to respect people in authority. He was way out of line and it would never have happen with any other President (white). The Republicans in our state are racist and need to get out of the slave mentality!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, stop playing the race card and take responsibility for bad behaviour. Obama is a socialist surrounded by plenty of white thugs and criminals which negates the race card. Wake up and save our country. Never apologize for telling the truth. Joe Wilson can apologize if he thinks he was out of order but not for what he said. If the right can applaud and cheer during the Senate Address, why can't dissent be voiced.

I can say what I want this is still (at the moment) a free country and I did not vote for him as I saw through him from the get go! Let's see it is called something like wolf in sheep's clothing???? God help us all!

Obama's surrounded by thugs...who? He's trashing the consititution....How? He's a nazi, fascist commie (nevermind that all of those are different types of ideologies and governments and therefore impossible to coexist within the same agenda). Provide something of substance when you make these accusations and maybe I'll listen, I'll most likely prove you wrong but at least I'd listen. Until then quit blaming our nine month tenured president for the mistakes of administrations past.

Bar-room behavior belongs in a bar. Not the halls of Congress. The Wilson child broke established REPUBLICAN House Rules as well as long-standing Congressional tradition. Plain and simple.

And concerning "lies," where ARE those alleged "weapons of mass destruction, George?

It is sooo fun to see the repugnant froth when they are caught with their pants down and their fists raised in fake furor.

Joe Wilson insulted our entire system of government and the entire nation in showing such outrageous behavior. He owes the country an apology, not just the President. He may be YOUR congressman, but this is OUR country he embarrassed in front of the world. He must apologize to ALL of us. Better yet, just resign.

Joe Wilson is a disgrace, and is a racist thug of the wingnuts' dirty politics. That he is one of Glenn Beck's abominable following should illustrate his inability to discern truth; along with the fanatical ideologies of the Rushies, Hannitites, Beckites, he has sunk political debate into a new and slimier low. He and the other wingers need to have an intelligence evaluation before plunging this country into all-out warfare. This is stuff of the Nazis, Fascists, Stalinists and others who gained control of the spirit and minds of their people by such tactics and terrorism.

The truth is Obama is lying about illegal immigrants being able to get health care even if they put it in the "health care" insurance plan. The reason is that they will still get emergency room service because that provision for care is in the federal rules governing hospital admissions policies. Its a big part of how hospitals get federal funding for indigents legal and illegal ones. One big reason our health care cost are skyrocketing, no insurance for indigents and illegals over 10,000,000 people who don't qualify for medicaid but can't be denied care in the ER. Most illegals don't carry insurance because they are accustomed to free although poor health care or no health care in their birth countries (Mexico, Russia, Vietnam, China, other socialist/communist countries). To debase this argument about Obama's lie down to racism is denying the facts about what all health care providers know is the truth. Illegals must be given emergency health care plain and simple.

Heard it on Rush Limbaugh today: Obama spoke with members of ABC for an upcoming televised interview. When asked what he thought of Kayne West storming the stage, grabbing the mike from Taylor Swift, Obama said Kanye was a "jackass". Obama didn't know there was a "hot mike" when he said this. ABC quickly apologized to the Prez (like ten times!) and took the position that the comment doesn't exist. Too late: Fox News, CBN/700 Club, Jerry Doyle, G. Gordon Liddy and Glenn Beck are all running with it. What has this got to do with Joe Wilson? Well, when you consider, if it were a REPUBLICAN President who said that, they would be crucified right away in the press. But Obama said it, and so they're going to protect their homeboy at all costs.

Well, Kanye West was a Jackass for what he did.... No class at all! And he has engaged in this bullying type of behavior before. And.... sorry, but when Fox, 700 club, Liddy, Rush, and Beck report something....... I yawn...

And to the comment about illegals and/or indigents being given emergency health care. Well, what would you do if you were working in the ER and someone came in bleeding or in serious condition.....
check their insurance and send them away if they have none?
