South Carolina's unemployment rate fell to a 13-year low last month at 5.3 percent, state officials said Friday. [CRBJ]

The state House is set to take up ethics reform with the well-publicized ethics allegations against their leader, Speaker Bobby Harrell, as the backdrop. [P&C]

State Republicans held a press conference last week saying that state Sen. Vincent Sheheen was a strong sponsor of a 2012 bill that would have expunged records of some criminals. The only problem was that Sheheen wasn't a sponsor of the bill that started in the House. [The State]

Some Myrtle Beach property managers are cracking down on users of alternative rental assistance services like HomeAway.com by restricting what kind of amenities guests renting through those services can use during their stay. [Myrtle Beach Sun News]

A forum on Friday in North Charleston brought out about 150 people to sound off on the state Commission on HIgher Education's pending decision on a permit that would allow InfiLaw to take over Charleston School of Law. [P&C]
