According to a police incident report, a West Ashley man was riding his bicycle on Ashley River Road in the pre-dawn hours of Sat. March 29 when an SUV hit him from behind and the driver continued without stopping.

Around 3:50 a.m., police were dispatched to the intersection of Ashley River Road and William Kennerty Drive, where they found the victim, 41-year-old Sedrick Johnson, a temp-labor worker who lives in a neighborhood near the scene of the collision.

Johnson told police the vehicle that hit him was a maroon Ford Expedition, possibly built between 1997 and 2000. He said the vehicle's right side mirror struck him and then broke off of the vehicle. He also said the SUV might have some dents and scratches from his bike's handlebars, and he said the vehicle's left tail light was out.

A police spokesman was unable to comment on Johnson's condition at the scene of the collision, but the incident report does not indicate that EMS was called. Johnson could not be reached for comment.
