An emergency hearing today will take up Dusten Brown's appeal of a lower court's Friday order to immediately transfer three-year old Veronica to Charleston couple Matt and Melanie Capobianco.

Lawyers for Brown, the biological father with whom Veronica has been living for the past 19 months, were granted a stay of judgement Friday until the Oklahoma State Supreme Court can hear Brown's appeal Monday afternoon at 3 p.m. eastern time.

Post and Courier reporter Andrew Knapp said Monday that an order for Veronica's immediate transfer was suspected on Friday, but wasn't confirmed by the court until today. The P&C reported that the Capobiancos, who have been in Oklahoma since early August, were present for Friday's hour-long hearing. On Thursday, Charleston Sheriff Al Cannon ordered two deputies along with a SLED agent to Oklahoma ahead of the hearing, but stressed he had not been previously informed of any developments in the case.

The Capobiancos have reportedly been able to visit with Veronica, but an attorney appointed to represent the toddler requested those visits end until further action was taken in the case.

News around the "Baby Veronica" case has been notably hushed in recent weeks after months of emotional appeals from both sides due to a gag order discouraging the parties from discussing further developments.
