I-26 trees stand - After hearing from representatives from SCDOT (P&C) and current and former Congressmen Sanford and Ravenel at their meeting yesterday, the Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governemnts board directed the creation of an ad-hoc committee that will work with SCDOT to evaluate options relating to the trees along I-26 from Summerville to I-95, which had been proposed to be removed earlier in the year.

Folly dramz - After a fiery meeting Monday night, Folly Beach City Council is slated to take up a resolution to censure councilman and mayor pro tempore Eddie Ellis, which would remove him from office of mayor pro tempore. Ellis has filed an injunction to stop council from taking up the measure and says much of the controversy centers around his criticism of the "so-called retirement of the city administrator," Toni Connor-Rooks, who left her post with the city earlier this year.

Sheheen on Haley gun remarks - After the governor quipped that she "imagined a lot of different people" while demoing guns during a tour of a Columbia firearm plant, her presumed Democratic challenger for governor, State Sen. Vincent Sheheen responded (State), criticizing the gov, "I have grown up with firearms and if you're used to being around firearms and handling firearms, you don't joke like that."

T-Rav gets popped again - While in the Hamptons playing polo this weekend, former state Treasurer Thomas Ravenel was arrested on a DWI charge (CP) in the Suffolk County town of East Hampton and released on a $650 bond. (FITS)

2014 gov race - The State takes its first long look at the presumptive rematch between Nikki Haley and Vincent Sheheen in next year's gubernatorial election. Sheheen narrowly lost against Haley in 2010 when they were both relatively unknown, but after four years, Sheheen says he hopes to run against Haley's record.

Inspection ordered after 787 fire - The FAA is ordering airlines to inspect (CRBJ) the emergency locator beacon aboard Dreamliners after a fire on an Ethiopian Airlines 787 last week.
