The chief financial officer of Crisis Ministries, a homeless shelter on upper Meeting Street, has been accused of embezzling $11,000 from the organization.

Crisis Ministries CEO Stacey Denaux called police Friday afternoon to report that the CFO, Carol Libby, had deposited at least 10 different checks into her own personal account. The checks were "meant for several institutions that work with Crisis Ministries," according to a police report, and Wells Fargo Loss Prevention contacted Denaux when it appeared that the checks had gone into a personal account.

At the time of the report, Denaux said the earliest instance of alleged fraud she had discovered was on June 14, 2012, and the most recent was on May 21, 2013. The total value of the checks stolen was $11,009.20.

According to a police spokesman, Libby has not been arrested and the investigation is ongoing.
