Polls in the district, which snakes through parts of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, and Dorchester Counties, will be open to voters from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. To find if you're registered in the district or where you're assigned to vote, visit scvotes.org.
Once again, the state's new voter ID laws will be in effect, meaning that if you are not in possession of one of the valid forms of ID prescribed by the state election commission but are registered to vote in the 1st District, you will need to cast a provisional ballot instead. The winner of Tuesday's runoff will face Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch and Green Party candidate Eugene Platt in the May 7 general election. An independent survey released last week shows a close contest between Colbert Busch and each of the Republican candidates.
