Debatable - Republicans Mark Sanford and Curtis Bostic, who face off in the 1st District runoff election Tuesday, met at Porter-Gaud School for their only head-to-head debate on Thursday night, trading talking points (Politico) and personal jabs. Friction between the two came mostly from personal and political criticism (P&C) the two fired at each other throughout the forum. Bostic also announced endorsements (Beaufort Gazette) by James Dobson, formerly of Focus on the Family, and the Concerned Women for America PAC.
Holding pattern - The Charleston Aviation Authority passed on rendering judgement (CRBJ) on bids for a major overhaul and addition to Charleston International Airport after an internal inquiry was launched last week looking into board members' involvement in the handling of the bidding companies. One board member is also criticizing his colleagues for approving the sale (CRBJ) of 320 acres of airport-area land to Boeing for less than it's worth.
