Boosting Bostic - Former Republican candidate for president and U.S. Senator from Pennsylvania Rick Santorum joined 1st District candidate Curtis Bostic (Politico) on the campaign trail Wednesday as Bostic and Sanford prepare to face off in their first one-on-one debate (P&C) tonight ahead of Tuesday's runoff election. Santorum called former Charleston County Councilman Bostic a "fresh face" (AP) for Washington. Bostic also announced the endorsement (Patch) of conservative talker Ann Coulter on Wednesday, who called Mark Sanford the "Todd Akin of South Carolina."

Ironic iVotronic - A report released by (The State) the state Legislative Audit Council details $17 million in improvements slated for state voting machines (P&C), in use for nearly a decade, to retrofit them (AP) to produce a paper audit trail.

I-526 nixed... sortof - Well, I-526 is no more (P&C). The beltway is still there, but due to plans to build the final stretch of the highway at a lower speed than a standard interstate, the Mark Clark Expressway will no longer be classified as an interstate.

Carrier Classic canned - Patriots Point officials announced yesterday (ABC 4/AP) that the Carrier Classic, which attempted to stage two NCAA basketball games on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown in November, won't return next season without significant underwriting from a TV network. In 2012, the primetime game between Ohio State and Marquette was scrapped after moisture accumulated on the court before tipoff.

Respect my Authority - The Charleston County Aviation Authority will discuss bids for a contract for construction on a major airport overhaul project a week after the authority tabled the matter in favor of an inquiry over concerns over board members' involvement in steering one bidding company, which announced its withdrawal from consideration Wednesday, toward specific contractors
