Steer clear of downtown flooding

High water on Huger, President, Hagood, Smith, Keats

UPDATE, 1:55 p.m.: Police are reporting road closures in the following areas:

• Huger/King
• Fishburne/Hagood
• Fishburne/President
• Fishburne/Orrs Ct
• Fishburne/Rutledge
• Lockwood/Brittlebank Park
• Line St/Crosstown
• Ashley/Nunan
• Line St/President
• Morris/Jasper
• Smith/Radcliffe

As expected, there is some flooding on downtown streets after this morning's downpour. According to a Charleston police spokesman, the roads were "pretty good" after high tide at 6 a.m. this morning, but at 12:45 p.m., there were reports of flooding in the following low-lying areas:

• Huger St (from King Street towards Rutledge Avenue)
• President Street near the Crosstown
• Hagood Avenue near Fishburne Street
• Smith Street near Morris Street
• Keats Road near West Oak Forest Drive (West Ashley)

If you see flooding elsewhere, please be a good neighbor and leave a comment below.

According to the S.C. Department of Natural Resources, the next high tide will come at 6:27 p.m. You can follow the storm's progress via radar on the National Weather Service website.

And for Pete's sakes, Charleston, don't go rafting on any air mattresses this time.
