Haley previews tonight's State of the State address

Governor will lay out policy priorities for coming year

Gov. Nikki Haley says she will "continue the theme that we've always been talking about," in her third State of the State speech tonight, "and that's jobs." The governor will take center-stage tonight in the State House chambers to discuss her priorities for the coming year in a speech that she admits is lengthy, but as she puts it, "there's just a lot to talk about." From health care to government restructuring, to education, the governor, who will be up for re-election next year, will take stock of the year past and the new legislative session, which began last week. She'll also take a look at areas where she or her administration fell short in 2012, including a few predictable lowlights such as the hacking of the Department of Revenue and subsequent fallout but also some other failures that will shift to this year such as renewing efforts to establish a new Department of Administration, which fell short of needed support at the last-minute in the last legislative session.

The speech will be televised on ETV at 7:00pm.
