Piccolo Fringe ticket sales

Posted by John Stoehr on Sat, May 23, 2009 at 3:48 PM

Earlier this week, Brandy Sullivan was somewhat worried. The co-founder of Theatre 99 and organizer of Piccolo Fringe wasn't seeing the ticket sales that she hoped for. But then Friday came and the tickets started to fly. "Then I saw that we were going to be OK," she says. That's the case for the opening day of Spoleto, she says. People are arriving and leaving and generally getting settled for the big 17-day festival. Friday is slow but steady. It's days like Saturday, she said, that really pick up a full head of steam. Last thing: Jet Eveleth, the woman with the black gooey stuff on her face in the picture below, isn't going to be with The Reckoning this year. Too bad, we loved seeing her in Roseville, an act during the Comedy Festival, in which she was a little girl in a tutu trying to get the attention of a distracted cat. Longest laugh ever. Sullivan says she can't make this year's Fringe, because she's on a cruise ship with her boyfriend. She's excited, Sullivan says, "and pretty hard up." -JS
