Predicting 9/11?

Posted by Jack Hunter on Fri, Sep 11, 2009 at 4:36 PM

I read this on the air this morning and thought it worth passing around. I thought of it on September 11, 2001 and still think of it every anniversary.

This is Pat Buchanan describing a hypothetical terrorist attack that could take place in the future as a result of U.S. interventionist foreign policy. From page 44 of his 1999 book "A Republic, Not an Empire:"

It is in February of 2005 that the explosion occurs in the port of Seattle. It is a low-yield crude atomic device, but the devastation is incredible. Thousands are dead; thousands more are injured or wounded, many burned horribly. The device was smuggled in the cargo hold of a ship and detonated only hours after the ship had docked. No one knows for certain who put the device there. Iran condemns the act as an inhuman atrocity and an affront to Islam, but notes that America was the first to use such weapons. North Korea is also suspect. But intense speculation focuses on a group associated with the financier of terror Osama Bin Laden, whom U.S. special forces ran down and killed years earlier. Bin Laden's agents reportedly acquired nuclear weapons from rogue army elements is Russia or Kazakhstan in the 1990's, or got one from a Pakistan now controlled by allies of the Afghan Taliban.

Is this the best piece you could come up with to observe this anniversary? Any 8th grader with a subscription to Time magazine could have pieced this scenario together. Seems like L Ron Hubbard meets Nostradamus to me.

Connecting the dots is so tedious. Buchanan predicted a scenario two years prior to 9/11 that eerily reflected what actually happened on that awful day. He said this was inevitable because of our interventionist foreign policy. Compare Buchanan's prediction to the countless idiots who never predicted such a scenario, yet contend that the surprise attack was born purely of the attackers hatred for our "freedom." On the 8th anniversary of 9/11, that still remains an answer that would only satisfy children.

You cannot prevent events from repeating until you know the reason behind them and take action to change the status quo.

THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Press Secretary
___________________________________________________________________________
For Immediate Release September 10, 2009

NOTICE
- - - - - - -
CONTINUATION OF THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY WITH RESPECT

TO CERTAIN TERRORIST ATTACKS

Consistent with section 202(d) of the National Emergencies Act, 50 U.S.C. 1622(d), I am continuing for 1 year the national emergency declared on September 14, 2001, in Proclamation 7463, with respect to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the continuing and immediate threat of further attacks on the United States.

Because the terrorist threat continues, the national emergency declared on September 14, 2001, and the powers and authorities adopted to deal with that emergency, must continue in effect beyond September 14, 2009. Therefore, I am continuing in effect for an additional year the national emergency the former President declared on September 14, 2001, with respect to the terrorist threat.

This notice shall be published in the Federal Register and transmitted to the Congress.

BARACK OBAMA

THE WHITE HOUSE,
September 10, 2009.

Well, if the terrorists attacked because they hate us for our freedom, we're sure obliging them by getting rid of these freedoms one by one. After all, before the attacks I could carry mouthwash and nail clippers in my carry-on luggage, I could sit in my car at the pick-up line at the airport instead of just passing by, and I sure didn't have the Government telling me how they can justify removing my right of habeous corpus.
