The term “financial security” is usually used to describe economic well being. The term “national security” is used to describe foreign policy or domestic protection. But what if actions taken in the name of “financial security” actually weakened our economic well being? What if actions taken in the name of “national security” actually hurt the nation’s security?
Not only is this happening, but the biggest difference between Democrats and Republicans are the ways in which they work overtime to make this nation less secure.

And this post is a good example of the kind of partisan thinking that has, since the 1994 Contract On America, made us less safe. But what we have had to fear the most, since Gingrich-bush-Cheney et al decided to turn America into a dictatorship of the rich, is our own leaders. There is little hope now that Obama or anyone else can reverse the ineluctable slide of our country to third-rate status, as the flow of all wealth toward the rich continues. As Arthur Koestler said of commumism, capitalism has become "the god that failed."
