Finding Jesus at Chick Fil A

Is it strange that Chick Fil A keeps me from being an atheist? I mean they're so Christian and the sandwiches are so good, and the people who work there are so nice. I'm always thinking- Wow. If my kid told me he was getting a job at a fast food place I'd be skeptical. If he told me it was Chick Fil A, I'd be ecstatic.

All fast food places eventually become bastions of inequity. But not Chick Fil A. Drive around a southern town at 1 in the morning and see what's available to eat: Checkers, Wendy's, Kristol. It doesn't feel life choosing a restaurant so much as it does deciding on a hooker. "I'll take four Kristals- Supersized. "

And you roll up to the drive thru. The drive thru is the glory hole of the restaurant industry. You go to a hole in their wall, put what they give you in your mouth and hope you don't get AIDS.

And there is that awful moment when you go to the window you're looking at them, they're looking at you, and you've been brought together for this one moment by a string of bad choices... them not finishing high school, you deciding to drive under the influence.

Wendy's is the most disappointing. When I was a kid, Wendy's was the nice, sweet fast food chain. "Where's the beef?" Dave Thomas naming the restaurant after his daughter. The square hamburger patties. The sold baked potatoes and little side salads. Now that Dave has died, things have gone to pot. Have you seen the commercials?

"Wendy's- Every thing's Sweeter After Dark."

What?

"Our Burgers are Square, but We Like to Party."

Excuse me?

"Have a Frosty, then Shit in my Mouth."

Wendy.

But Chick Fil A is different. They are closed on Sundays so there people can go to church. They have books about success and leadership in the lobby. Their playgrounds aren't covered in hypodermic needles. Chick Fil A inspires me to be a better person. And if that's not What Jesus Would Do- I don't know what is.

JeeeeeeeeeZZZZuuus Keeeeerist- Dude Chik-fil-A, Hobby Lobby, U.S. Plastics and Amway are all front groups who are funders for abusive dominionist religious groups. It is a nice place with a christian theme. The food is good. Their profits however go to coercive authoritarian religious groups whose goal is to turn the US into a theocracy by any means necessary. It is a little involved but since you are a REPORTER you should be able to come up story that would be interesting and controversial that Jeeeeeezzzzzzuuuus knows this paper needs.

Thanks again for your comment. And once again, I am not a reporter. Your sarcasm meter is very low my friend. I guess it needs to be low when you out there unearthing all of the world's conspiracies. But if you cannot see the tongue in cheek nature of someone finding God because of a clean and friendly fast food chain, then maybe it is time for a vacation. I hear Disney World is very nice. But weren't they involved in the Di Vinci Code cover up. I hear Mickey Mouse was a Nazi Sympathizer. Check out the Daily Kos, see what you can find.
