DeMint holds picnic fundraiser ... in Colorado

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Fri, Jul 16, 2010 at 3:35 PM

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-Colo.) recently held a picnic fundraiser in Cuernavaca, Colo. DeMint was campaigning for conservative Senate primary candidate Ken Buck. (Because our editors are convinced there are at least two readers who don't know, DeMint was actually elected to represent South Carolina)

Greg,

You can't blame the man for helping fellow party members get elected during an off election year.

When you consider that he is running against Alvin Greene, a non-opponent, who has run a non-campaign, while raising non-cash and making non-speeches, there is no good reason for Jim to break open DeMint back here in SC.

Do the math. A $3.5 million war chest earning a meager 5% a year will be worth just short of $4.7 million by the time his next election rolls around, not counting an additional 6 years worth of PACs and other fund raising activities.

That kind of dough could provide the "buy in" for a Presidential primary run, or a nice little beach shack on Kiawah Island.

As sick as all that might sound to some folks, I still can't bring myself to go "Greene".
