You won't hear it on the radio in Charleston, but a conservative political action committee is running radio ads in the Upstate that attack a GOP attorney general candidate for his work in bringing Boeing to South Carolina.
At a news conference on Tuesday, Leighton Lord called on the American Future Fund to reveal its motivation for ads that attack him for representing Boeing in collecting state incentives that helped land the airplane manufacturer's second Dreamliner facility.
The ad states: "Nine-hundred million dollars in tax breaks and debt financed by Upstate taxpayers and hauled off to Charleston."
Lord says it's a mysterious jab from Washington special interests.
“I challenge any member, donor, or leader who actually calls South Carolina home to debate me face to face on the merits of Boeing’s investment in South Carolina and the process that brought thousands of jobs and opportunities to all of our state,” Lord said.

It's only mysterious to people who are completely incapable of looking something up.
The American Future Fund is, oddly enough, on the internets. There, they have a listing of board members and whatnot. They are from Iowa.
Of course, maybe Lord knows all this and is alluding to the fact that their public website was registered at godaddy (and, really, what says awesome more than registering a site with godaddy? nothing, that's what) by "Domains by Proxy."
Which probably means that even if you called "Domains by Proxy" at their phone number ((480) 624-2599) you probably won't get a straight answer. Then again, you might.
So, you could go with a cease and desist letter.
By the way, Domains by Proxy is also owned by the same grinning huckster who owns godaddy. That's pretty crazy convenient, isn't it?
So, probably none of them call SC home. But they certainly aren't the only ones who would question the wisdom of closed doors and sealed deals.
So, yes, I would like to know how shifting the tax burden from a corporation like Boeing onto the citizens that it would purport to help was conceived and justified in those meetings.
Hey you upstate jackholes... Remember BMW? Where were you then? You need to get over your inferiority complex about Charleston… It’s unseemly!
Hold up Ranger! I'm from the Upstate and am thrilled that the state has gotten Boeing. It's a potential boon for all of us. I never even heard of leyton Lord before but if he's responsible for Boeing--HE GETS MY VOTE!
