Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mullins McLeod is taking advantage of the first big GOP debate by hosting a campaign event a few doors down.
The buzz is wearing off from Lt. Gov. André Bauer's comments last Friday about starving stray kittens and public aid programs, but Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mullins McLeod is squeezing a little more juice out of it.
McLeod will be at Vickery's holding a food drive for Lowcountry Food Bank. The restaurant is just a few doors down from the debate hall at Memminger Auditorium.
“I’m tired of embarrassing, divisive comments like that coming from South Carolina’s leaders," McLeod said in a release. "I want to turn this latest debacle into something positive."
The food drive will be from 5:30-6:30 tonight at Vickery's, 15 Beaufain St.
