RNC Race: Ohio Talks Trash About S.C. GOP

The race to be the next Republican National Committee chairman went to the next level yesterday with a special meeting to give the candidates a chance to make their case (aside: it's weird that we actual have people fighting for this job). Reports indicate that they largely made the same case, but some took a little effort to kick some dirt at South Carolina's conservatives.

South Carolina GOP chair Katon Dawson highlighted his party's wins in the Palmetto State. (Ken Blackwell, Ohio's former secretary of state later joked, "We know how difficult it is to win in the swing state of South Carolina.")

To be fair, Blackwell has got a point, especially considering that Dawson sent hundreds of thousands in S.C. GOP money to other states in the weeks before the November election. Though, personally, we think the Democratic Party is just as much at fault for not running Democrats in more races.

You know, it's kind of surprising that Dawson's opponents haven't pointed to the massive infighting in the South Carolina Republican Party. When the conservative leaders of the General Assembly aren't taking each other apart, they're trading fire with Gov. Sanford. What does that say about Dawson's leadership?
