Daily Read: Scarborough Loses Job, S.C. Loses Jobs, Gov. Against Federal Aid, Surfside Pipe Bomb

South Carolina lost 1,000 industrial jobs in November — and look for another 500 lost at a WaMu mortgage center.

A good job for those industrial workers would be some sort of infrastructure improvement project. Our governor says "hell no."

Wallace Scarborough has lost his election challenge — again. His attempt at a new election could go to the courts (or the legislature), but we have a feeling that the sense of setting a dangerous precedent would scuttle any real chance he has left.

Elsewhere:

A landscaper finds a pipe bomb at a Surfside Beach community. It's encouraging to know that there are some resident watchdogs out there — we hardly know what we're looking at when we're just looking at a pipe, much less a pipe bomb.
