Johnny Depp In Charleston? Not Crazy Talk.

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Mon, Nov 17, 2008 at 11:49 AM

From a reader:

I have been told by several people that Johnny Depp

is filming a movie here in Charleston and that he has

been seen in several areas of the city. Can you verify

that for me?  I met him last year in N.Y.C. for the premiere

of Sweeney Todd and he is brilliant.  If he is here, I would

really like to know as much as possible.. where, when, etc.

Thanks a million

This rumor has apprently been around for at least a month, according to Topix. My favorite part of the linked thread is where the woman refers to "a lot of 'actors' visiting the area." Ouch. The third pirates movie wasn't that bad.

We don't know of any work for Depp in Charleston. But Channing Tatum is filming a movie in town and the two of them recently finished "Public Enemies." So it is not out of the realm of possibility that Depp would be visiting his recent castmate, or he may be doing some sort of indy piece.

Anyone who is a fan of Johnny's and follows his career would know that he's currently working on Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" where he'll be playing the Mad Hatter. Work on that film is being done in L.A. and London.
