I'm in the throws throes of 10th anniversary coverage, but here's the news as reported by P&C:
The South Carolina State Ports Authority’s North Charleston Terminal, at the end of Remount Road, is closed to all traffic while the North Charleston Fire Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and a private environmental contractor respond to a leak in a shipment of compressed gas in cylinders.
The gas, which is used in refrigeration, was to be exported to Europe.
There are no reported injuries or environmental pollution from the leak, which was reported before 8 a.m.
Port Police and local law enforcement are assisting with traffic redirection at the intersection of Virginia and Remount. Motorists are asked to avoid the area.
