After seven years of good times, Karl Rove has decided to call it quits.
When asked for his reaction to those who say he's being "run out of town," Rove responded, "That sounds like the rooster claiming to have called up the sun."
I would more likely consider it Rove throwing himself under the Congressional bus for Cheney and Gonzales. My guess is that Bush may have continued to listen to Rove's advice, but other new faces in the administration weren't as hooked. Interpret this line as you will:
"You're never going to replace him," said another senior administration official, adding that Rove served a "unique role."
