James Franco will be appearing through a video stream at the Terrace on Tues. July 29 after the screening of his latest film Child of God
. We know our headline was a cruel trick, but we felt that same disappointment yesterday when we found out Franco’s actual body would not be in the Holy City. (Of course, that could be a good thing for parents of underaged, Instagram-loving teens since they won’t have to worry about the actor sending inappropriate messages to their daughters about meeting in hotel rooms post-screening, even as a publicity stunt.)
The film itself is dark. But since Child of God
is adapted from a Cormac McCarthy novel, that shouldn’t be surprising. The plot follows a violent man who lives outside of social order and — from the looks of the trailer — kills a lot of people. Scott Haze, Tim Blake Nelson, and Franco star in the movie. Franco also directed and wrote the screenplay.
Child of God
is the latest installment of a new series Paul Brown, owner of the Terrace Theater, has organized, which allows audience members to email questions to firstname.lastname@example.org that could be answered by stars, producers, or directors of the films if selected. For Child of God
, Franco will answer. The Q&A sessions take place after the screening. Last night, Rob Reiner participated during the preview screening of And So It Goes
, starring Michael Douglas and Diane Keaton.
