Every year — well, the last five at least — the Terrace Theater takes a break from its regularly scheduled programming for its film festival in March. This year’s lineup was just announced, and it features some pretty big players. On opening night, Jesse Einsberg (The Social Network, Now You See Me) and Mia Wasikowska (Jane Eyre, The Kids Are All Right) team up in The Double, a comedy about a man who loses it when a doppleganger appears in his life. The award-winning documentary When Jews Were Funny also screens on the opening night of the festival and surveys the history of Jewish comedians. Rodney Dangerfield and Gilbert Godfried appear as themselves in the doc. Local film Priscilla’s Legacy also nabbed a spot in the fest. The story of a 10-year-old slave who worked on the Ball Plantation was shot over seven years in the Lowcountry, Sierra Leone, and Rhode Island.
The fifth annual Charleston Film Festival takes place March 13-17. For the complete program, visit charlestonfilmfest.com or call (843) 762-4247 for more information. Tickets cost $10 per film.
