The Greater Park Circle Film Society is currently accepting submissions for another round of Lowcountry Indie Shorts — and they’ve added cash prizes this time around. The biannual festival has expanded this fall to feature three blocks of films (each with five to 10 flicks) that will be shown on Sept. 21-22. The organization expects each block to be about 1.5 hours long.
The film society’s recent involvement with the Charleston Film Festival has helped increase filmmakers’ and fans’ awareness of their own little fest. “We’ve gotten to a point where we’re receiving films outside of South Carolina,” Nicholai Burton, executive director of Park Circle Films, says. Last year they even received submissions from Germany and L.A.
There is no submission fee and films can be shown at other festivals, but you’ve got to get them in by Sept. 15. This will also be the first year they bring in a jury and award cash prizes. The jury will choose the best film of the festival and best film from the region (encompassing the Carolinas and Georgia).
