Former X-Files gunman stars in new doc

A Lone Gunman rides again in The Truth is Out There

One of the saddest moments in The X-Files nine-year run was when the Lone Gunmen died. (If we just ruined a major plot point for you, well, you’ve had about a decade to catch up with the show, so tough luck.)

One of the characters’ real-life counterparts is the star of the documentary The Truth is Out There, which will have a special screening on Thurs. June 23 at 7 p.m. at the College of Charleston’s Education Center, room 118. Directed by Phil Leirness, the film follows Dean Haglund, better known to fans of the sci-fi show as Ringo, the long-haired, bespectacled conspiracy theorist that Mulder and Scully turned to in times of need; in our reality, he’s also a comedian and a podcaster.

The Truth is Out There follows Haglund as he looks at conspiracy culture, a world he’s unwittingly a part of. Admission is free, and Leirness will be on hand for the screening, answering questions after the film. For more info, check out the movie's website.
