Graham opponent Lee Bright's infamous 'Star Wars' parody goes MIA

Bright also calls senator a 'community organizer for the Muslim Brotherhood'

Lee Bright is the kind of politician that journalists love. The Spartanburg state senator is like the mutant gaffe spawn of Joe Biden and Sarah Palin as bioengineered by Homer Simpson and Cosmo Kramer. In short, he's a foot-in-mouth gem.

When he's not calling for South Carolina to coin its own money, he's calling Lindsey Graham a "community organizer for the Muslim Brotherhood."

All of which is why I'm tickled pink that Bright has decided to throw his dunce cap into the ring. Now that he's in the race for Sen. Graham's seat, South Carolina will never have to mint its own coinage because Lee Bright is pure comedy gold.

Of course, Bright isn't the only person who's itching to take on Lindsey. There's also Citadel grad and political PR guru Nancy Mace. And wouldn't you know it, Bright has already taken a swing at her.

The reason: Mace is a former co-owner of FITSNews, the politico gossip site run by Will Folks — you know, the guy who said he had an "inappropriate physical relationship" with Nikki Haley and promised to release a tell-all about it but never did.

Now, Mace has since severed ties with FITS— she reportedly sold her stake to Folks months ago — but she still hasn't explained how she could have joined forces with the most notorious blogger in the state. Heck, she even released the official FITSNews statement on Folks' scandal, proclaiming that the site "speak[s] the truth on behalf of the citizens and taxpayers of the Palmetto state." Ha.

While it remains to be seen whether mom-and-pop Nikki Haley fans in South Carolina will be bothered by this, Bright certainly thinks Mace has a FITSNews problem. In fact, he recently told Stephen Largen of the Free Times:

“There are a lot of folks that are loyal to the governor that will have a problem supporting her,” he said.

Mace, in her defense, told Largen:

“To me, it’s just ironic to be criticized by someone who’s part of the conservative movement. I’m not going to reply in kind.”

Mace did say that she never had any editorial control over FITSNews, with her role confined solely to design and clerical support.

Of course, Mace isn't the only one here trying to distance herself from her past. For whatever reason, Lee Bright's infamous "Defeat the Liberal Empire" YouTube video has gone missing. Now, I don't know if Bright pulled it, but that little bit of comedy gold is no more.

Or least that's how it seemed until I decided to visit the Wayback Machine, where I found the expunged video. While I could rap poetic about this vid for hours, I don't want to spoil any of its WTF goodness. Enjoy. (Note to Lee: The internet never forgets.)
