Today, Sen. Jim DeMint (S.C.) and former Sen. Rick Santorum announced their unequivocal support for sex-ed doofus Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri.
Like many of you, I'm wondering why DeMint and Santorum did this. I struggle with this for 15 minutes and two shots of bourbon. And now, well, it's pretty fucking clear. Jim DeMint and Rick Santorum believe in "legitimate rape." Or maybe they're just politicians with no principles who want to help out one of their teammates, even a rat bastard like Todd Akin.
In a statement published by Huffington Post, DeMint and Santorum write:
"If Republicans are to win back the Senate and stop President Obama's liberal agenda, we must defeat Sen. Claire McCaskill in Missouri. Her support of President Obama's job-killing, big-spending policies are sending our country into an economic abyss. And her passionate support of ObamaCare is ensuring healthcare costs go up while quality of care goes down. Simply put, we cannot afford six more years of Sen. McCaskill."
Oddly enough, HuffPo left off the rest of the statement, which is far far more damaging:
"... But we can afford to back a neanderthal who believes that most rape victims are liars who wanted it in the first place. And let us never forget that rape babies are God's little gift to the world, not that God intended for us as a society to take care of these precious little rape babies. If we did that, then we would be getting in the way of the divine punishment these so-called rape victims so rightly deserve."
