Should a Wando teacher be fired for showing this video?

Jackass Too

Wando High School teacher Christopher Poston should be fired for showing his students a clip from Jackass 2.

Why this isn't clear to everyone is beyond me.

But evidently it isn't.

And I'd be willing to bet that the reason it isn't is because Poston's supporters haven't seen the video in question.

They may know of Jackass. They may have heard of Johnny Knoxville. And they may know that one of the Jackass crew died last year in a drunk driving accident. But do they know exactly what happens in the video, the one that Poston reportedly showed underage students? I doubt it. Well, I've posted a link to it below.

As you watch it, I want you to think about another popular Mt. Pleasant teacher, one named Skip ReVille, and ask yourself if you would feel differently about this incident if it involved ReVille and not Poston. If you do, then Poston should be fired. If not, then I don't want you anywhere near my kids.

By the way, the Smoking Gun has picked up the Poston-Jackass screening. Head on over there to read the police report.

Here's a taste of what the masses have said:

He is an incredible teacher. And let's get real, if your child has him and he shows them a funny video chances are they have already seen it. I'm sorry parents but if you think that he is a bad teacher because of things he is showing them then you are wrong. Kids these days are NOT an naive as you think. There are a lot of bigger problems at Wando that need to be addressed before this does.

I just find it ridiculous that the man who has brought the most pride and fame to our school is being slandered like this. We can watch pointless movies in our other classes, but because he shows us how people dress in society it is a crime?? I thought teachers were supposed to prepare you for the outside world....

The child had a CHOICE to watch the video it is THE CHILDS choice to watch the video SHE watched it she wasnt FORCED to watch it, no one sat her in front of the screen and held her eyes open and forced her to watch it. THAT would be wrong. But seeing as how thats not the case.. Poston doesnt deserve to lose his job. Poston was an amazing influence on students and pointed them in the right direction if they were headed down the wrong path, truly a great teacher and a beautiful soul.

What he did was treat high school students like they were high school students. What's the problem with that?

Coach Poston does not deserve the harassment he is receiving from the media and Mount Pleasant officials. From the many responses of kids and parents thusfar, it is evident that Poston is kind-hearted, goal oriented, determined, and inspirational.

I am signing this petition because the rampant political correctness that permeates this country needs to be reigned in. These same "so called" upset parents, allow their children to watch far worse at the movies, MTV, etc... I bet if you asked the child that complained to name the people on Jersey Shore, they would make a 100%. Those photographs of the "Walmartians" are a PERFECT example of the diversity in our current culture. His curriculum begs for him to demonstrate these photographs. Why not poll all past and present students? Let them decide his future. Not some overpaid under-worked administrator, who rides the system until retirement.

Update: Christopher Poston's position with the Wando High has been terminated. According to a Charleston County School District spokesman, "As a matter of protocol we don't disclose the details of personnel matters. As an update, we can tell you 1) we have very clear-cut policies and practices in place to ensure a standard of excellence in every school and classroom; 2) immediately following this incident, Mr. Poston was placed on administrative leave pending investigation; and 3) as of today, Mr. Poston is no longer an employee of the Charleston County School District."
