Harvey Peeler wants to give illegals a free trip to D.C.

During one of my first newspaper gigs, my editor at the time had a unique solution to America's drug problem. Drugs should be legal. Even better, they should be free.

But there was a catch. If you wanted to do drugs, you had to go to Crack Island. And once on Crack Island, there was no return.

I think this is great idea. Partially because I think this would lead to a bold new era in Bum Fight-style videos and the return of the much beloved Afterschool Special.

Well, Senate Majority Leader and milkman Harvey Peeler (R-Gaffney) has a radical solution of his own when it comes to South Carolina's illegal immigration problem. Here's what Harvey said on Facebook today:

Our state cannot afford to house illegal immigrants in our prisons. The federal government won't do it's job.

What do you think about an amendment to the illegal immigration bill that allows us to arrest illegal immigrants, bus them to Washington DC and drop them off on the Capitol steps?

Hmm. As long as the buses don't hit the Beltway during rush hour, we could probably save a buck or two down the road. But with gas prices going up, even that little bit of savings might be lost.

Hop on the bus, Gus; make a new plan, Stan; drop off the key, Lee;

And get yourself in driver's seat, PEEler.

How's this:
1-let all the illegals out
2-jail anybody that hires even one
3-when they can't find any work they'll drive themselves somewhere else

Isn't the DMC busing them to the Capitol steps for every protest already? The trick is to make it a one-way ticket!
