This is Bob Barker, reminding you to spay and neuter your lieutenant governors

Especially if they make comments like these ... like S.C. Lt. Gov. Andre Bauer did recently at a townhall meeting in the Upstate burg of Fountain Inn, according to a Greenville News report, via the Sun News in Myrtle Beach.

"My grandmother was not a highly educated woman, but she told me as a small child to quit feeding stray animals. You know why? Because they breed. You're facilitating the problem if you give an animal or a person ample food supply. They will reproduce, especially ones that don't think too much further than that. And so what you've got to do is you've got to curtail that type of behavior. They don't know any better," Bauer said.

The News adds:

Bauer's remarks came during a speech in which he said government should take away assistance if those receiving help didn't pass drug tests or attend parent-teacher conferences or PTA meetings if their children were receiving free and reduced-price lunches.

Of course, what's not being said here, what's assumed by those in attendance at the town hall meeting, is exactly who Andre was talking about. For some reason, I don't think it was Bristol Palin.

As an aside, this whole thing with Andre and his story about his uneducated grandma reminds me of a certain scene in Kevin Smith's Clerks 2. Yeah, Andre is just as clueless as Randall. Judge for yourself:

Although I'm not a big fan of Bauer, I tend to agree with him. The hard WORKING citizens are tired of supporting the lazy....let me work the system citizens of this state. Drug testing is a great idea, drugs cost money, my money!!! Why not PTA meetings? They should show some interest in their kids lives, maybe if they did their kids would become productive citizens. Chris, you made us aware of his comments, but what exactly do you disagree with?

Here is the problem with the drug-free unemployment check. It makes sense, but then it leads to some other unreasonable demand. Telling kids they can't eat a hot lunch because Mom won't join the PTA is foolish.

Too bad this writer doesn't have something interesting to report.

I would like to know where it's been proven that parents of children on free/reduced lunch are all drug addicts? That's so dumb.
Most parents don't attend PTA meetings because they are either working that second/third shift job or they are simply tired of white middle class teachers asking them to brainstorm fundraising ideas for their neighborhood.

What's particularly funny is that Bauer is not above accepting a campaign donation from admitted former drug user Thomas Ravenel.

Maybe it's time we ask politicians to submit a urine sample with their campaign finance records.
