"Birther" poll in N.C. results: 5% say Hawaii isn't a state

Posted by Chris Haire on Thu, Aug 13, 2009 at 6:15 PM

Raleigh-based Public Policy Polling recently surveyed 749 North Carolinians about whether or not they believe Barack Obama was born in the United States. The results were quite shocking — and no, I'm talking about the matter that only 54% believe the president is a natural born citizen. Nope.

What's a real head scratcher is that 5% don't believe Hawaii is a state and that 3% are unsure.

And yet, on Election Day, all our votes count the same.

I am surprised that so many knew Hawaii was a state. I guess that's what happens when you spend more time reading a bible then a newspaper. Do they have schools in North Carolina? Actually I think the results in South Carolina would be worse. They should pole all the southern states and see which one has the dumbest republicans.

This can only mean one thing: the conspiracy runs deeper than even the Birthers could have imagined. Sure, the republican governor of Hawai'i vouched for his citizenship. Sure, the shark-toothed Clinton campaign bought off on it. Sure, the newspapers at the time were in on it, too.

But now the entire federal government is clearly exposed (to 5% of North Carolinians, at least) as a player in the greatest charade in American history: to produce not only false documents but an entire imaginary STATE for the great impostor to pretend to have been born in. Of course, that does hurt Sarah Palin's resume as well... governor of some Yukon outpost that is part of Russia? That just ain't American.
