After a successful year one, Charleston Pride is shaking up its leadership team for year two.

Already several months into organizing for Pride 2011, founding Chairwoman Lynn Dugan announced today that she's retiring from the group, along with Vice Chairman Paul Rakoczy.

The 2011 event will be held May 14 at North Charlestions Riverfront Park. This year's event brought out more than 4,000 attendees.

"My goal, from the beginning, was to get Pride started and to mobilize Charleston's GLBT community," Dugan said in a statement. "I also wanted to bring all the local GLBT Prides together to share the common goal of realizing equality for all. I feel that it has been accomplished and I'm so proud of all our communities for supporting Pride."

Dugan says she'll continue her lesbian meet-up group, the Charleston Social Club.

New board leadership includes Bastian Fennell, Rob Lewis, Russell Johnson, and Misty Brady.

"I am confident that the next team will bring their talent, energy and passion and make Pride a bigger and even more diversified event", Dugan said.
