Anti-gay S.C. group upset at Columbia's Pride support

Palmetto Family Council sites "militant" gays, "culture war"

S.C. Pride is this weekend in Columbia. To commemorate the annual event, the group received city approval to hang rainbow banners on light posts downtown.

Apparently, this is tantamount to war, according to the Palmetto Family Council.

"This is about much more than a piece of cloth on a lamp pole.

The flag raised today is symbolic of the city's ongoing and aggressive financial and institutional support of militant homosexual advocacy.

Taxpayers need look no farther than this year's headliner, Pandora Boxx (or last year's RuPaul) to see how their tax dollars and the city's good name are being invested.

The City of Columbia is not neutral in this matter. It continues to take a side in the culture wars, which we believe is not appropriate for any government."

We really haven't heard much from the Policy Council since their failed effort to put six feet between a man and his stripper.

Yeah, it's always the "militant homosexual advocacy" as opposed to the "generic public that just happens to be gay". You'd think these scary aggressive gay people were taking over the city by force. How about the "militant ultra-conservative Christian advocacy" that wants to control everyone else's life? Why do they think they have the right to do that?

So what's stopping the Palmetto Family Council from having their own festival, and putting up their own flags?

Doubtless the goal of these "militant" homosexuals (whatever the hell that means) is to "recruit" good young Christians into being gay.

Uneducated White Trash American Al-Qaeda members need to realize that some of the residents of their fair city and stated pay taxes as well. In fact that wind up paying more as they don't get the discounts like str8 couples do.

So if your a religious organization and you want to mingle your Al-Qaeda beliefs into politics then I suggest you forfeit your tax exempt status as a religious organization.

The State of South Carolina (specifically the city of Columbia) already set the precedent of flying militant flags when they flew the battle flag of the Confederacy. They cannot in good faith now deny the flying of the Rainbow flag in honor of that other demographic.

Then again, I'm sure the Palmetto Family Council opposed the flying of that other militant flag as well.

Too bad the Palmetto Family Council has been asleep for 2 years, they had RuPaul at SC Pride 2008. They missed 2009 with Tiffany & Frenchie Davis. And they forgot to mention Taylor Dayne, Janice Robinson, Danielle Howle, and Cris Williams who are all performing on Saturday in Columbia for SC Pride 2010. They should learn how to do their homework... www.scpride.org
