Sordid Lives, the Del Shores play that birthed the campy 2000 cult-classic film and subsequent cable TV show last year is coming to Charleston. The local Footlight Players will be telling the story of a Southern family comically struggling through the death of their matriarch.

The Footlight press release encourages the audience to expect, "Big hair, big hearts, and big laughs abound in this hysterical white trash comedy," while also promising, "This play contains strong adult language, content, and loud noises."

One of those loud noises is transvestite Brother Boy (in Tammy Wynette drab) asking his shrink, "Can you see my pussy now?"

Performances will run March 20, 21, 26, 27, 28, April 2, 3, 4 at 8:00 PM and March 22 & April 5 at 3:00 PM.  All performances will be held at the Footlight Players Theatre on 20 Queen Street in downtown Charleston.  Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, and $15 for students. To order tickets for Sordid Lives call the Footlight Players Box Office at 843-722-4487 or go online to www.etix.com.  For more information on Footlight’s 77th season and the Footlight Players, please go online to www.footlightplayers.net.
