You Saw It In Charleston First: Leslie Jordan Opening Off Broadway

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 11:04 AM

Leslie Jordan's hilarious one man show that stopped in Charleston last summer is heading to an off-Broadway theater for a six-week run! We talked with Jordan before his Charleston visit about the show and the book it is based on, My Trip Down the Pink Carpet.

Some of Jordan's funniest stories come from his experiences as an effeminate boy growing up in Chattanooga, Tenn.

"My dad was a lieutenant colonel in the Army, and I wasn't exactly the son he envisioned," Jordan says. "He'd come home and I'd be in the front yard twirling a baton. I'd tell him that mom wouldn't let me twirl it inside and he'd say, 'Son, I'll pay for whatever you break.'"

American Apparel: A Little Gay. Kenny Chesney: Absolutely Not

Posted by Greg Hambrick on Wed, Feb 11, 2009 at 11:01 AM

American Apparel, which has a King Street store, is offering a T-shirt online with "Legalize Gay: Repeal Prop 8 Now." In this era of being disappointed in one anti-gay business after another, it's nice to have a business you can support because theyr'e supporting you.

Meanwhile, Kenny Chesney has had about enough of the rumors that he's gay. There are apparently more than 100 women who will confirm that he is not gay — they would likely also tell you he's an apparent manwhore that has been spared from VD by the grace of god.
