Once again, the 2016 SceneSC Sampler showcases great local and S.C. music

New tunes from Brave Baby, Jordan Igoe, Susto, and more

Over the past few years, we've had the pleasure of our little corner of the country develop some pretty talented musical acts. And every year, the fresh SceneSC Sampler reminds us how lucky we are. On Friday, SceneSC dropped its 23-track compilation of notable S.C. artists active over the past year.

The tracks off this year's sampler span from the tightly-produced Americana of SUSTO to the jangly electro-pop of Del Sur to Art Contest's off-kilter prog-punk. In all, 13 of the songs included are brand-new debuts.

As always, Charleston artists comprised a big chunk of the sampler. This year, we hear tracks from local acts Brave Baby, Johnny Delaware, Jordan Igoe, The High Divers, She Returns from War, Grace Joyner, Human Resources, Tape Waves, Haley Shaw, Del Sur, Becca Leigh, and The Hadleys (formerly Volcanoes in the Kitchen). Phew, got all that?

Cruise over to Bandcamp and stream the whole thing right now for free while you read a few words from SceneSC on each track.
